Decoration is a key aspect of being happy and maintaining a positive mental frame of mind in life. During the training a CNA receives, the ethical part of taking care of people comes into play. Everyone deserves to be happy, and the way a room is decorated can have such a great effect on people, that even those being trained in a health care career field are taught to make it lively.

During a friends first month of CNA training, they actually covered over how assisting with the decor of a room can make a difference in the life of a patient or in the life of someone in a nursing home. With hospitals the decoration is pretty much going to remain the same as patients come and go, but within a nursing facility, the opportunity to put a smile on a persons face, or to brighten up a persons day with a little color in a room can make all the difference.

Generally for older people, pastels can promote a soothing feeling on the mind. This is because pastel colors are often associated with softness. This softness plays a part on relation in most people, and can actually help with a persons breathing patterns. While this is not always going to be the case with each individual, studies have show that on a majority of people this is so. If you have been thinking of decorating in a nursing home for a family member, you might consider getting the CNA involved to promote a good relationship between the family member and the care giver.
